Primarily a classical stage actor, Julian Glover trained at
the National Youth Theatre, performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company
and became a familiar face to British television viewers by appearing
in many popular series during the 1960s and 1970s.
He made his film debut in Tom
Jones (1963) and worked non-stop in film,
television and theatre thereafter.
His talent
for accents and cold expression made him an ideal choice for playing
refined villains.
In the 1980s he achieved world-wide fame
in playing villains in three of the most successful film franchises – Star
Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade and
James Bond adventure For Your Eyes Only in which he played Kristatos.
Other films
include Juggernaut,
Luther, Heat And Dust, The Fourth Protocol, Cry Freedom, King Ralph
and Harry potter And The Chamber Of Secrets (voice). Julian’s
performance in the title role of the Royal Shakespeare Company's
staging of Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2, at the Barbican Centre
in London, earned him the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in 1993.
