Biography William Hoyland was born in Birmingham.
His early TV credits include Budgie (1971), Z Cars (1974), Thriller (1975), All Creatures Great and Small (1978).
In 1981 he was cast in For Your Eyes Only as McGregor, captain of the spy ship St Georges, in the opening sequence.
His other big screen credits include Gandhi (1982), Star Wars - Return Of The Jedi (1983) and Hellboy (2004).
His has been a guest star in all major British TV productions, including Casualty, Holby City, Life On Mars, Bugs, Our Friends in the North and Between The Lines to name but a few.
