A native of Providence, Rhode Island, David began his acting
career with the Sock & Bushkin Players at Brown University before moving to New
York to study with Sanford Meisner and Martha Graham at the Neighbourhood
Playhouse. He also studied with Lee Strassberg at the Actor’s Studio.
His theatre
roles have ranged from Turgenev’s A Month In The Country directed by Michael Redgrave, to recent co-starring roles with Paula
Prentiss in 2002’s comedy The Allergist’s Wife; Noel Coward’s
Blithe Spirit, with Juliet Mills; Alone Together with Anita Gillette;
and the New York premiere of First Love with Lois Nettleton.
David co-starred with Vincent Price in cult horror film The
Fly before
moving on to an enviable career on both the small and large screens.
His many tv shows include regular characters in Voyage
To The Bottom Of The Sea, Dynasty, The Colbys and NBC Soap Another
World. Additionally,
he has guest starred in shows including The Saint, Murder
She Wrote,
Hart to Hart, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, The
A-Team and Hotel.
However,
perhaps his greatest popular has been achieved through playing Felix
Leiter
in two James Bond films: Live And Let Die (1973) and License
To Kill (1989). David is the only actor to play Leiter twice, and remains
the fan’s favourite.
His other films include North
Sea Hijack and The Naked Face, with Roger
Moore; and most recently Mach 2 and The Omega Code 2.
